Cherry went after Prust for no reason other than he's a Hab. he's made his disdain for Montreal/Quebec/French players very apparent throughout his career and he will never miss an opportunity to poop on them. the rest of Canada worships at his feet but in Quebec, he's more a sideshow than anything else, with no credibility. we watch him on CBC but we tune in to laugh, not to be informed. there are real analysts for stuff like that.

That's why he was so upset when Marty St Louis didn't make the Olympic team? Because he hates French players right?

Paul I agree with what you're saying (about it being a non-issue) but I get the impression that in the reffing world a non-issue for one ref might be a big deal for another.

It seems that for the major topics everyone's on the same page but when it's concerning a play like this it comes down to what the ref calling the play thinks. I know it's a hard thing to avoid but as long as the refs are interpreting individual plays differently there's always going to be an issue with consistency. How we go about correcting this though, is a whole other game.

My only issue with this whole incident was how Carey Price got a leaving his crease penalty when he was already at his own bench.

Bishop should have gotten roughing instead of leaving the crease as it was during a tv timeout.

Prust should NEVER have been down there in the first place

Agreed. During a TV timeout, an opposing player has no business being at the other end near the goaltender. I didn't see a spear, but I did see the goaltender skate into the "cup check". I would have given Prust an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and ended it there.

A few years ago when the Preds and the Ducks were playing each other in the playoffs, Corey Perry did something far more egregious and didn't get anything for it. During a TV timeout, all the skaters went to their benches, except Perry who skated up to Pekka Rinne who was standing in his crease. He slashed upward between the goaltenders legs. Peks just looked at him in disbelief. I was surprised that the refs didn't do anything. I was even more surprised that a brawl didn't ensue. Since it was a TV timeout, I don't think there was video of the incident for the league to revue.

I know of one other time Perry did this, but it was as time ran out in the period. http://youtu.be/92ckOcyQh1s

Been out of the HB loop for a while so just catching up on some your blogs. Another good, by the way.

The part about goaltenders made me think about the Milan Lucic hit of Ryan Miller a couple of years back. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the incident.

Do you think the right call was made by the referee? Do you think Lucic's actions warranted a suspension. Why or why not?

Thanks.
